After a rather non-happening 2007, Priyanka Chopra is eagerly looking forward to 2008 in which she will feature in as many as half dozen films. Chopra hails from Jamshedpur in North India The actress was among a variety of winners from the industry noted for north India connections. Some of the other winners were Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kissen, Pankaj Udhas (lifetime achievement), Kumar Mohan, Mohammed Aziz and comedian Raju Srivastav.

India's favorite skin cleansing brand Lux, has taken a leap forward by introducing the new 'Lux Crystal Shine' for the gorgeous Indian woman. This unique offering, with Shine of Crystals and Drops of Moisturizer, promises to give women luminous sensation and an enviable skin.

The new face of Lux - the beautiful Priyanka Chopra - is endorsing the offering. Its catchy advertisement, which is already on air, uses an interesting play of neon lights to show Priyanka undergoing a transformation from an ordinary damsel to a mind-numbing beauty.

'Lux Crystal Shine', which recently hit the markets, kicked off its highly innovative campaign amidst a dazzling event, which was graced by Priyanka Chopra at the Hyatt Regency. The campaign, which has a neon theme, began with Priyanka unveiling a stunning 30-feet neon hoarding of herself with the Lux Crystal Shine. The hoarding, one of the largest in Mumbai, has been placed at Cadell Road.

The event also saw Priyanka Chopra flag off a dazzling neon-lined bus that will be touring several major cities in India over the next 30 days. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Ashok Venkatramani, Vice President Skincare HUL said "Lux has always led the market in terms of new and interesting products offering unique benefits. This is another one from the LUX basket".

The Lux Crystal Shine team has planned several other innovations that will be executed over the next few days. So, don't be surprised to see a neon-themed show stopper along one of your drives in your city!

Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra, the fifth Indian to win the coveted crown was born on 18th July 1982 in Mumbai to Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Chopra.

Her upbringing in a family belonging to the army made her travel widely all over the country and  exposed her to the multi cultural Indian society. Priyanka was a resident student of La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow and studied for a short while at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly. Having completed class 10th from Boston USA her ambition was to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist.  

Priyanka's interest in modeling implanted in her a desire to win the Miss World beauty pageant, a dream she claims to have held for six years. Back in India from US she participated in the Femina miss India contest and then the World pageant which changed her life drastically. Her family, especially her mother has been her sole inspiration.

Priyanka Chopra was born 18th July 1982 to the family of Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Chopra. She had a very varied upbringing. She started her education at La Martinière Girls College in Lucknow as a resident student; a short stay at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly prepared her for further studies in the USA. Having completed tenth grade in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, she decided to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist.

She enjoys Indian music and dance; flair for writing poetry and short stories; reading, especially biographies; and has worked for a lot of social-welfare programs. She aims for the stars after completing her education. She is a movie buff and would love to join the galaxy if a good offer comes.Winner of the Miss India and Miss World beauty pageants in 2000.

Achievements: she is the only Indian in the USA to have been selected at the state level for the National Opus Honor Choir, extensive charity work back in India and the USA, and joined the CAF and CII in their literacy program and is their ambassador. Member of the support group for the Thalassemic children in U.P., India, participated in the adult education awareness program with the non-governmental organizations in the peripheral areas of Bareilly, joined the Indian Government-sponsored Polio Eradication Program as a volunteer. Raised funds for the destitute in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, by participating in a church program.

While shooting the song "Do Me A Favor, Let's Play Holi" in the movie Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005), she stepped on a live wire and received a shock. She was hospitalized for a day. Did her schooling from La Martinière in Lucknow. She completed tenth grade in Boston and wanted to become a software engineer or a criminal psychologist. Her father Ashok Chopra, who also manages her career, was diagnosed with a tumor in his liver. He had to undergo a complicated emergency surgery.

Turned down the lead in Umrao Jaan (2006) to work in Bluffmaster! (2005).

Turned down a part in London Dreams (2009) because she could not provide the shooting dates as she was busy with other films.

Her childhood was laden with happiness and she grew up in the care and love of her relatives in a large extended family. Priyanka was a resident student of La Martiniere Girls school in Lucknow and also studied for a short while at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly. She completed 10th grade from Boston USA and her ambition was to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist. She considers her selection at the state level for the National Opus Honor Choir as her major achievement in the US.

After returning from Boston, she participated in the Femina Miss India contest and went on to win the title of Femina- Miss India World. She further shot into fame when she won the coveted Miss World 2000 title. Then Priyanka moved on to films.
She debuted in a Tamil movie titled 'Thamizhan' (2002), opposite Tamil superstar Vijay. Her next movie was in Bollywood, 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy' (2003), directed by Anil Sharma, in which she played second fiddle to Preity Zinta. The film didn't fare well and then she held her hopes on Suneel Darshan's 'Andaaz' (2003). Though the film fetched horrid reviews, it worked at the box-office and she got many offers, especially glamorous roles.
